PARTNERS English School is a small school in Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City, Japan.
The school has been up and running for almost 13 years.

Mainly the conversation teacher has the following duties: 1. teach conversation on a generally one to one basis to students between the ages of 12 and 70 providing individualized lessons as much as possible based on the teacher's assessment of the students' strengths, weaknesses and interests, maintain the schedule of classes which for the most part is made up of once a week lessons, or four lessons per month per student. 2. teach children in small groups each consisting of 2 to 5 children between the ages of 2 and 12, associating with a Japanese staff. As to the 1. above, the vast majority of the students maintain a very regular schedule. Some students, however, prefer a "floating" schedule due to work/family or other demands. In those cases it is required to organize their schedule on a weekly basis. In other words, as openings in the schedule arise, these classes are offered to the students who can then schedule the class if it is convenient for them. As the school has grown, this has become more challenging and at this time it seems almost imperative that a part-time teacher is hired to accommodate the students' needs.

The teachers have an assortment of texts and other materials which have been used at the school for the last 13 years. But in terms of teaching materials the school expects the teacher to use their own ideas, methods and creativity to develop the conversational ability of the students. This will be both challenging and very rewarding for the teacher.

PARTNERS started with about 25 students and has grown quite steadily despite the difficult economic situation in Japan. We think this is because the school fulfils demands that other large institutions cannot. It is possible that the school could grow further. Although this is not 'in the plans' at the moment, the right combination of motivated and dedicated people could expand the school. But hopefully the foremost thought of the teachers at PARTNERS will be to maintain and improve on the quality of teaching imparted on its students.
