【 フェアポート・コンヴェンション結成 / A Foundation of Fairport Convention 】

サイモン・ニコル / Simon Nicol の母親が所有する家を借りていたアシュレイ・ハッチングズ （Ashley Hutchings、１９４５年１月２６日生まれ） が、サイモン・ニコル （Simon Nicol、１９５０年１０月１３日生まれ） とサイモン・ニコル / Simon Nicol の友達のリチャード・トンプソン （Richard Thompson、１９４９年４月３日生まれ） を誘い、ドラマーにショーン・フレイター （Shaun Frator、生年月日不明） を加えてグループを結成する．
サイモン・ニコル / Simon Nicol の母親が所有する借家の名前が��フェアポート�≠ｾったところからフェアポート・コンヴェンション / Fairport Convention と名づけられる．
１９６７年５月２７日に聖マイケル・ホールでギグを行うが、たまたまこのギグを聴きに来ていたマーティン・ランブル （Martin Lamble、１９５０年８月２８日生まれ・１９６９年５月２２日没） がメンバーに売り込み、ドラマーがショーン・フレイター / Shaun Frator からマーティン・ランブル / Martin Lamble に交代する．
その２週間後には、リード・ヴォーカルにジュディ・ダイブル （Judy Dyble、１９４９年２月１３日生まれ） が加入し、１１月にヴォーカリストにイアン・マシューズ （Ian Matthews、１９４６年６月１６日生まれ） が加わり、最初のアルバムを録音する．
