アシュレイ・ハッチングズ / Ashley Hutchings はフェアポート・コンヴェンション / Fairport Convention の創設メンバー．
『Fairport Convention : Liege and Lief (LP/1969)』 の録音後に、よりトラディッショナルなフォークを目指して脱退し、ティム・ハート / Tim Hart やマディ・プライヤー / Maddy Prior らとスティーライ・スパン / Steeleye Span を結成する．
１９７１年にはスティーライ・スパン / Steeleye Span を脱退し、アルビオン・バンド （Albion Band、アルビオン・カントリー・バンド、アルビオン・ダンス・バンドなどのプロジェクトがある） を結成する．

フェアポート・コンヴェンション / Fairport Convention をはじめとしたグループの演奏記録をテイプにしており、『Fairport Convention : Heyday - BBC Radio Session 1968-69 (CAS/1976)』 はアシュレイ・ハッチングズ / Ashley Hutchings のテイプから．
